The PIC2021 Event was held online from 30th June to 2nd of July. It was supported under NEFERTITI project. The participants were 235 from 35 countries.
PIC 2021 was an annual event which is organized by Plant InterCluster, a Network of Technology Clusters active in the plants industries. The annual PIC Meeting was the most important cluster event in the plant production industry in Europe during the current year. It aimed at fostering innovation in plant production and at building a common agenda to support the international development of Plant clusters and their members.
The topic of this year edition was focused on “Building Demonstrative Capacity in Plant Production”.
During the event leading Italian and European regions for agriculture production and innovation, Emilia-Romagna’s Agrifood Clust-ER and the Department of Agriculture of the Tuscany Region illustrated how they have invested in and worked with demonstrative capacity to ensure the diffusion of innovative solutions for and from plant production. Two main themes were underpined the discussions:
Bio-based innovation for/from plant production
High-tech zero carbon footprint horticulture & fruticulture
Contributions from participants from both public and private sector organizations across Europe, helped shed light on 21st century key challenges for plant production and how they can be tackled.
NEFERTITI project contributed the event by producing virtual visits to DemoFarms targeting practices that are relevant for the Bioeconomy on 30th of June and Horticulture on 1st of July.
NEFERTITI representatives also participated in a specific parallel session which was held on 1st of July to debate with Italian Regional Authorities about how to support Demo Farms activities and role.
